- A breakdown: the customer needs an attendance window and diagnostic price.
- A service: they need a booked slot and a defined service scope.
- A replacement: they need a surveyed or properly specified quote.
A replacement enquiry can involve substantial quoting before a booking. Do not treat it like a ready-to-attend breakdown call.
Prepare without promising a part
Ask for make/model, any visible fault code and whether heating, hot water or both are affected. Explain the diagnostic charge before setting off. A code helps preparation; it does not prove which part is needed.
